I can tell you of a model shop, lost in space and time here in Oz that has a couple of new Lima 33s on the shelf along with Mk1 coaches, 4fs and so forth. from memory a 33 would set you back around $100. Of course I will tell you where this place is only after I find out if they have more than 1 33 left http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

Hi http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_wave.gif , As mentioned earlier in this thread I wished to increase the number of goods vehicles on my garden railway with some extra vans, but SWMBO for some reason doesn't see the Melbourne branch as number one priority in the household budget http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif , so with van kits at around ??????‚??30 each a cunning plan had to emerge. I think at this point I should warn rivet counters of a nervous disposition to move on to a nice S7 or P4 thread http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_tongue.gif http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif .

I had purchased various Triang & Lima 16T minerals at various shows for between ??????‚??2.50 & ??????‚??10 but I already had more 16T minerals than I could shake a stick at, so I had a word with that very nice man at Parkside Dundas & being a Scot I think he could understand a Yorkshire mans reluctance to part with cash http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif , so a mutually beneficial deal was struck for 11 van body's to go on some of the Triang /Lima chassis.........here is the progress so far in pictures.

Cracking idea Phill http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_thumbsup2.gif Just goes to show you can make O gauge as cheap as you want, when you put your mind to it and also keep the area fleet engineer happy aswell (SWMBO) http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Cheers

Hi Phill http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_wave.gif

A few Q's:-

Are you sticking with the plastic wheels?

If so, how do they cope with Peco points etc- aren't the flanges a bit deep?

What couplings will they have? The curves do look easy enough for scale 3-links without any problems.

Cheers, Jordan http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_thumbsup2.gif

Hi Jordan http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_wave.gif

F-UnitMad wrote:

Well the answer to that is yes is yes & no, at the moment I have about 30 to 40 freight vehicles running on plastic wheels & I re-wheel a few at a time to spread the cost(the cheapest I can find at the mo are ??????‚??5 for 2 axles) so eventually all stock will have steel wheels.

Lima plastic wheels run fine but Triang ones need replacing http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

All goods vehicles have 3 links & coaches have single links (home made)

Hi http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_wave.gif , a little more progress today, all the chassis are now fitted with lead weights, the next job will be fitting the 3 links to the body's.
