Sir Nigel Of Gresley
Hello all, now am I dreaming, or did I once read about two GWR AEC Railmotors that were loaned/evaluated/tried out, on the LNER?? OIf they were, what liveries did they carry, and where-a-bouts did they serve? Once again I'm sure the RM Webbers will know the answer, and once again, many thanks in advance for all replies/help given. Grant
Guest dilbert
Railcar N° 19 was used in regular traffic by the LNER in Apr-May '42, not sure where. It apparently kept its GW livery. I also recall that another GW railcar hit LNER metals though this in time in BR ownership - early 50s IIRC...dilbert
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted March 31, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 31, 2010 The RCTS history mentions cars 6 and 19 as loaned to the LNER to operate in the Newcastle area in 1944 - there is a published photo of one of them while on the LNER but I can't recall where I saw it (possibly 'Backtrack?). Sir Nigel Of Gresley
Well I was thinking of repainting one of the re-released Lima/Hornby models in Apple Green...but in my 'model' world, anything goes, so i just might. Many thanks to all who replied. Grant
