18B
Just reading the excellent Bill Alcock a Lcoman's log, 1937-85 and in it he mentions going to the relif cabin at chesterfield "behind the station buildings" can anyone shed any more light on where/what this building this was like? RMweb Premium Simon Lee Posted December 18, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 18, 2017 I can only remember the relief cabin at the South (Clay Cross) end of the island platform. Never used it, but recall seeing stuffed full of crews with the usual card schools in progress, when passing bye.
18B
I wondered if that was the building he was referring to....... always thought it p-way cabin later on? Was it used as a relief point much?
Holmesfeldian
Are you sure you don't mean the building on the far left of this picture ?....https://flic.kr/p/gw3nfs

In my day, late 60's/early 70's, that was the train crew/station staff cabin. "Behind the station buildings" could be anywhere depending on your viewpoint, and as these were behind the buildings on the southbound platform when you came up the subway, then it is arguably correct.
