RMweb Gold Anotheran Posted June 27, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 27, 2018 Brilliant pictures, even before I clicked on them to see them full screen. I particularly like the angles of the first one. But the second does show off the weathered wood on the barn really well. They both draw the eyes in so many directions, just like a view of the real world. Your skill at the photography and post production also help to give an incredibly realistic view. Thank you very much for sharing them. Kind regards, Neil
KNP
Using the afternoon sun to its full advantage to give good lighting and shadows I have taken this picture as if from eye level height. Ivy has now been added to various areas around the barn. Not to much but just enough - I hope! Edited June 28, 2018 by KNP
KNP
The ivy is growing!!!!! In the setting sun I caught this image.

KNP
Figures now added which I had finished wayback on the 11th April post....!!! I am pleased to introduce - Ivor Snuff - he's on the wagon (literally) Willy Williams - with the sack truck (waiting for some luggage that I haven't made yet!!!) Capt. Smyth-Croft - Station Master and approaching with the missing case. The beauty of the CBC models is that you can get some unusual camera angles. EDIT It also shows that the van body isn't on the chassis properly either.....!!!!! Edited June 28, 2018 by KNP

KNP
Looking pretty good!! How did you do the Ivy? I looks really good. Thanks. Came into being very quickly once I had the idea of what I wanted.... Ivy is from MiniNatur - Summer Ivy, I believe the number is 936-22 but don't quote me as I have lost the paper insert! KNP
I thought I would pass on a tip that I was shown many years ago and is an important part of taking pictures of models. Reflective lighting was what it was refered as, to me, and that is a way of lighting shaded areas without having to rely on lighting rigs etc. Using this picture as an example After taking this picture I noticed on review that there was a lot of shadow especially to the front of the ventilated goods van. So using by trusted reflecting board it turn out like this. Much better, still areas of shadow that I was after, but now not so overpowering. If you look you can other areas as well like to the RH side of the tree trunk, fence posts etc. How did I do that, a 12" cake board. Next picture shows the set up on the dining room table catching the afternoon sunlight The board is just angled and moved around to catch the light coming in through the window and then adjusted to illuminate the areas I needed. Very cheap and simple way to get lighting to areas that are in shadow. Give it a try and you will be surprised at the results. If you don't have a cake board then a bit of crumbled, then flatten bit of tin foil on a place mat or something will give the same results

KNP
Scrapped the pictures I took yesterday as I had left the camera on the wrong settings after our trip to Blenheim Palace.......! That'll teach me to check the settings beforehand...... The colour was all wrong but I have just retaken them and they look much better.
Marly51
Kevin, Apologies if this question has already been asked, but what camera do you use? I’ve just been using my iPad Pro for quick photographs recently and my old Sony Cybershot, which has served me well for reference photographs, has had its day! The other members of the family have larger digital cameras, but I prefer something more compact with up to date features. KNP
Using the intense afternoon sun I stood this CBC on the patio table and organised some sharp and well defined shadows. Sort of, transformed it a bit into real life situation when the sun was out. Then rotating a bit and using cropping was able to zoom in. Martin S-C
Which manufacturer makes the white metal Suffolk Punch horses Kevin?...and... I hate to raise this, but shouldn't the van door inside be vertically planked, rather than horizontal?

Martin S-C
I am sorry, I must be blind. Looked through all of page 1 and no manufacturer is mentioned. "Suffolk Punch" searches only throw up a breed of horses and not a model manufacturer. They're clearly not Dart Castings. Might you be able to just please let me know who the manufacturer is? Thanks.
