AMJ
Had a daft thought the other day. Would it be feasible to use say an A4 ring binder to make a micro layout on/in? Conceptually you could store the layout on the bookcase taking up next to no space. Would you use the full A3 area as a base board that can be folded away or A4 plus the same for the back scene? O gauge would need the full A3 but it will be a diorama with a locomotive and waggon. On30/OO would be a small shunting layout. Not/OO9 probably get in a full loop. Pop-up buildings? If kids book feature pop-up graphics it might look good for a micro layout?
Nearholmer
Answer: yes. There is a Japanese artist/modeller who has made some beautiful H0e layouts that way. He manages the use the full A3 and a bit as the baseboard IIRC, but I can’t recall how. Just remembered his name http://www.omorodesign.com/omoro_Site/Diorama/Diorama.html Edited March 4, 2018 by Nearholmer
