sp1
None of the layouts I have built in the past have had a backscene, so I have a few questions: Background: I am building a branch line terminus (in 00), 10’ x 8’ in an L shape on 2’ deep Boards. The layout will be operated from a sitting position using the ‘Kirby’ uncoupling method. My questions are: 1. Preferred backscene height? 2. Preferred thickness? 3. Preferred fixing method? I would prefer the backscene to be easily removable (and replaced) for maintenance (the baseboards have been built to be easily separated and removed- this will not be exhibited but I am mindful of the need for maintenance and would like to allow for the layout to be easily moved if necessary. One other thought is to add a ‘proscenium’ (is that the right word? !!) like exhibition layouts, so that I can have a ‘roof’ and either curtains or drop down flaps at the front to keep light and dust out
RMweb Premium Daddyman Posted April 13, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 13, 2018 There was a long discussion of backscenes on Tony Wright's thread ("Wright Writes") recently - a hundred or so pages back.
Nick G
My back scene is homemade. It is several (19) photos of the real location stitched together and printed on 3mm Foamex.
