Hi all . after the miss hap with the driver not being able to fit back in the cab . i just about managed to extract the control pannel that was the cause of the problem with out have ing to destroy bits of the cab .  a much simple replacement was made . there is not a lot of room in there so was not worth going to town on detail  as you can not see much when the driver is sitting in the cab . the loco now has the cab roof fitted and whole loco was given a good spray of primer post-26535-0-26871600-1532808515_thumb.jpg.post-26535-0-50588600-1532808617_thumb.jpgThe driver which i have named vernon . after a mate of mine who looks very similar post-26535-0-49165300-1532808304_thumb.jpgpost-26535-0-95593000-1532808406_thumb.jpg I did ask him 1st and he didn't  mind . The next stage  will be to make a start on weather ing  the loco . I want to give it a real worn out on its last legs  or should I say on its last  wheels look  peeling faded and rust showing . so ile post  some more pics  soon .

As its been raining here down on the the south coast in England  the 1st real down pour we have had in months . its a good reason to get on with the painting of the loco  I have used raw umber and bit of black to give it a key coat for the rust effect . post-26535-0-09456700-1532878504_thumb.jpgpost-26535-0-03545000-1532879004_thumb.jpgpost-26535-0-22777600-1532879069_thumb.jpgpost-26535-0-23391300-1532879152_thumb.jpg

after  the base coat was dry being left over nite  . I could now start on the rust effect . all I use is some artist acylic paints of different  rust tones stippled on with old cheap brushes they end up looking like chimmny  sweeps brush . when I have covered one section at a time . the next stage is to use artist chalks again tones of brown yellow orange etc  are stippled in to the still wet paint the chalks blend it all together till I get the look I am afterpost-26535-0-05384500-1532986860_thumb.jpgpost-26535-0-27136500-1532986921_thumb.jpgpost-26535-0-55124300-1532986972_thumb.jpgpost-26535-0-98417500-1532987035_thumb.jpg it can look like I have totally wrecked the loco now but the next stage should bring it back this will be with the salt tech or hair spray and a top coat of my chosen colour .

Well one good thing i have to say is this weather is good for spraying if thats the only thing its been to dam hot for me . so with a weeks leave from work i have at last got to a top coat on my loco . one of the hold ups was what color . it was a choice between a faded light blue or olive green in the end the mrs decided i should do green . i was pleased with the over all rust coat on its own may be i could have left it . but i did want to try a blister ing flake ing paint effect . it still needs some work tone ing the shades etcpost-26535-0-87149400-1533642771_thumb.jpgpost-26535-0-92373500-1533642833_thumb.jpgpost-26535-0-17027600-1533642885_thumb.jpgpost-26535-0-39128900-1533642970_thumb.jpgpost-26535-0-10105300-1533643058_thumb.jpg
