mark axlecounter
I am allowed to build my kits at work because it keeps me alert and vigilant and when there are problems then they are put out of the way. I try and build my kits at home but when you have 3 kids a pug and a Mrs all wanting you to do stuff there is no time to do them. I go to Heywood model railway club on Mondays and I have bucks lane there so the only time I can build my kits is when I'm at work.
RMweb Gold ianLMS Posted February 5, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 5, 2019 I need a job like yours then lol! Luckily, my wife is a teacher so most evenings and at least one full day on the weekend she is working which gives me time in the train room (once my chores are done lol)

Take the bogie off and see it will get round the curve without shorting or binding. If it is ok then you may have to change the bogie pivoting arrangement. Baz I'd try one of these if it runs fine without the bogie as Barry Suggests https://www.wizardmodels.ltd/shop/locomotive/ls73/
mark axlecounter
Or smear a thin layer of epoxy on the brake hangers and the cylinders where there is a risk of shorting.
RMweb Gold ianLMS Posted February 5, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 5, 2019 So far, it seems to be behaving itself through the curves and points so will monitor it and see what happens.
RMweb Gold ianLMS Posted February 12, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 12, 2019 Final stage - weathering. Started with Humbrol Black Wash, followed by a light application of Tamiya weathering powders. Mostly dirty black, and rust on the tender. Wheels/rods were blackened using brass black, 3
