Bachmann OO locos with five pole motors

Hi,

Having seen a review in one of the mags saying the new Bachmann H2 Atlantic had a five pole motor* I wondered if there were any other Bachmann OO locos of recent years that have five pole motors?.

I'm looking for another donor motor for kit built EMUs and DMUs to compare against the standard Heljan and motors from Hornby/Dapol and specialists.

Also are the Bachmann 2-EPB/4-CEP/MLV using three pole motors?.

Regards

Nick

PS * I'm not sure from the photos it is a five pole motor but it might be nice if it is.

As  mentioned in another thread, Bachmann have consistently used (very efficient) three pole cans of their own design in their steam models  for many years.

What appears to be standard* in their D+E traction including MU's is a good size five pole flat can unit, (roughly 1833 in outside dimensions) of very similar on track running characteristics to those in Heljan and Hornby D+E product, and equivalent Mashima cans. The Bachmann can isn't a complete enclosure at one end which makes it easy to count the poles. Cannot comment on whether skew wound or not, as in over 25 years ownership and use of these motors never yet had one fail, to provide a specimen to open up!

*Caveat. Confession of laziness, I haven't actually opened up any of their last ten years introductions that I own to verify the motor dimensions and pole count, because the performance is so uniformly good. These motors are typically buried out of sight contained between the main casting and a plastic base so it's a bit tedious going in for a look. What's drawn on the assembly diagram is uniformly the same thing by appearance, and it works ...
