pwr
Looks like a reasonable guide from what I saw in my copy Paul R
RMweb Premium Metropolitan H Posted September 26, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 26, 2018 I bought a copy on Monday. It has its good points, but I find it interesting that it completely ignores modern "0" gauge "Standard Scale" - and there is less than a page regarding Coarse scale at any time! As one who has a foot in both camps I am very disappointed with the biased view presented. Modern "0" gauge "Standard Scale" may not be the largest of the various sub-groups of "0" gauge model railway interests, but to publish "Your guide to "0" gauge railway modelling including the larger scales" without any reference seems a bit strange and suggests an unhealthy bias / propaganda. Lacathedrale
Chris, do you mean modern image or some new subcategory of scale/gauge I'm not aware of? Was thinking of grabbing something for the train home today!

William, Not really Modern Image - more Modern Production "Standard" (or Coarse) scale as produced by ACE Trains, so mainly steam age models but they do supply a rather nice model of a D800 Warship and currently are supplying a range of BR Mk1 coaches in BR Blue / Grey livery. Also look at the websites of WJVintage, The Stationmasters Rooms and Raylo for further inspiration. Regards Chris H

Regards Chris H 'Standard'/coarse O scale is pretty much a legacy option now, not to decry it for those who like the swish of heritage tinplate around sharp curves, traditional engineering and VFM from the likes of Ace, but not of much interest to the majority drawn to 7mm scale by the fine scale products now increasingly available - including the Mark 1 coaches from Darstaedt which have crossed the line into fine scale. brack
Modern image o gauge would bring its own problems anyway - block trains of bogie wagons. You'd need a mansion and a second mortgage to buy the stock.
Lacathedrale
Ah, too many permutations of standard, gauge, modern and scale for my liking. But I do understand now, thank you!
