  • MLW 420 (Dan)
  • BC Rail (conditional) - needs to sell about twice as many as the CN 3500's to be viable, currently they are about the same (so anyone wanting BC Rail or any of the related conditional models need to encourage orders)

  • trailer order deadline March 15th, there will also be new SKU's for the trailers in a undecorated silver finish
  • Metrolink Bi-level samples shown
  • discussion about the issues of factories making unauthorized changes, or trying to get authorization for changes factory thinks will make model better  - example factory that suggested a "better" orange colour to replace CN orange...
  • likely hiring another product manager this year
  • working on other CN/CP switchers when discussing potential of more SW1200RS models
  • NH County cars in tooling, samples after CNY

Rapido updates.

BC Rail and P&W M420's - all the tentative paint schemes met their minimum order amounts to allow for the new/unique tooling to happen - these items can still be ordered.

Order deadlines

April 14th - Canadian bulkhead flat car

May 16th - U25B, New Haven County Cars, Budd Slumbercoaches, 2nd run Horizon cars

Rapido Facebook Live - April 7th - Jordan, Bill, Jason

  • loco projects continue to face delays from supply chain issues with circuit boards/decoders
  • 2 extensive unannounced loco projects going into tooling soon, 1 US focused other Canadian
  • EMD BL2 - maybe, some interest in pursuing it in the future
  • Mexican freight cars - some interest, biggest problem is getting photos/research, interested in anyone who can provide extensive photos of prototypes
  • Superliners - something to discuss possibilities in the future.

2 things of potential interest.

1) Kadee - their June email and their website state that there isn't a June car release due to "labor shortage"

2) Rapido is having a big live announcement on Monday at 4:30 EDT on Facebook with "three new announcements incorporating four new products"

Rapido - Facebook Live event - June 13th

highlights noted by me, video embedded below

  • 08:00 - C30-7 goes into tooling in about a month
  • HO Turboliner sales were 30% higher than Jason predicted
  • 27:00 - more Geeps possible, Jason rather do US Geeps than CP Geeps
  • Dalek is Rapido's HR department
  • 30:50 - possible hint of an OO Routemaster
  • 32:00 - H16-44 - errors discovered in drawings, the source data wasn't good enough, they will soon do a 3D scan
  • show a production sample of Amtrak E8 4316 - should leave the factory in about 3 weeks
  • E8 - best selling Rapido model ever, the limited edition of 4316 that was supposed to be 500 units actually sold in multiples of 500
  • 40:00 - Manitoba grain boxcars?  yes
  • Manor and Baggage - factory handling this is slow, order given in September 2021 paint samples only recently arrived, hope for end of July leaving factory
  • D10 - working on solving issue with the chuff sequence between the model and the decoder
  • H6 - still waiting, hoping sales pick up after D10 arrives
  • Sweeps?  won't say never, but likely would need to be a conditional announcement

Rapido bi-level video.

Important for DCC users - Josh demonstrates how to replace the DC chip with the included (in a bag) DCC chip to allow for cab lighting to be used (or alternately how to put a DCC decoder in).
