Butler Henderson
In the latest Railway Bylines their is an article on Oaksey Halt which opened in 1929 on the Stroud Valley line. Shown is a GWR publicity poster which advertises the train service and available fares, however the trains are only described in terms of their departure times from Swindon and Kemble and calling time at the halt. The fares listed are limited to third class singles aside from three third class returns being listed as being available, to Swindon and Gloucester for the same price as a single (albeit only on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays in the case of Gloucester) and Cirencester Town for 1/2d more than a single but only on Mondays and Saturdays. Struggle to imagine any TOC not getting serious flack if they put out/attempted such limited / restricted details today.
