SOUND PROBLEMS.

I have a Loco with factory fitted sound. Hornby TTS.  F1 is the only sound I can get.

I did a re-set to default, not made any differance.

The Loco itself does work.

Any Thoughts?

PS. Loco to Tender is by plug & Wire.

TTS or Twin Track Sound decoders have only two sound channels (one of the reasons why they are so cheap).

 

One channel is reserved for the 'engine' sounds, the other is used one at a time, by all the other sounds.

 

From the symptoms, I suspect that either you have a decoder in which all non-engine sounds have been turned off (which you may be able to change with the relevant volume CVs - see the instruction sheet) or where the multi-use channel is not working.

 

If CVs 162 to 180 are set at 0 value, they will be silent.

Initially you can do a sound only reset by writing value 5 to CV8, that will put all sounds back to default volume 4 (range 0 off to 8 max).

 

To change all volumes at once on a steamer change CV178 (same numbers as before), else as paulibanger says alter individual volumes to suit your ears.

She is only 5ft 2 BUT.
