Catching Real Trains help.

I am hoping to catch some East Coast and East Midlands HSTs in May of next year and hopefully someone can help me in identifying a good station to spot these two operators HSTs from also it would be nice to catch some freight trains as well.

 

The journey would begin on Friday/Saturday either from:

1. Bodmin Parkway
2. Manchester Airport
3. Gatwick Airport

and it will end in Birmingham on a Sunday.

Add Sheffield and you're on the way back to Brum via Derby?
