RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted November 17, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 17, 2018 I snapped up a copy of this book yesterday in Waterstones and well worth the money for anyone with a wider GWR/WR interest. While there are some modern photos (basically of buildings) there is a goodly mix of b&w and colour views from the GWR and WR eras in the steam age quite a number of which I have never seen before - real gem is a colour view of 1509 at Newport High St while there area couple of good views of 'The Great Bear'. There are some preservation era views of locos and coaching stock but they are very far from overwhelming the real 'workaday' shots and fit in unobtrusively. In view of the amount, and quality, of colour illustrations plus some really good unusual b&w views it struck me as very keenly priced at £19.95. and it would have been criminal to have left it on the shop shelf so Waterstones got a well deserved sale. https://www.capitaltransport.com/great-western-style-686-p.asp
