RailWest
I don’t know but looking at Midford traffic would, presumably, come from the Evercreech Junction direction?.... Why would you think that? Edited January 28, 2019 by RailWest
RMweb Gold griffgriff Posted January 28, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 28, 2019 (edited) Why would you think that?I don’t know.... that why I’m asking the question but the sidings at Midford are shunted in the Evercreech to Bath direction aren’t they? Edit..... just looked at a map and I see they’re not..... forgive me. I obviously need to buy more S&D books Griff Edited January 28, 2019 by griffgriff
RailWest
The Up siding at Midford seems to have been rarely used. As the connection to the Down sidings (goods yard) was facing to Up trains, in the years after the removal of the crossover road on the viaduct (circa-1918), then the shunting 'must' have been done by down trains - the rising gradient towards Bath prevented fly shunting.
