Rannoch station hut/loading bank

Hi all

 

The green hut at Rannoch station has often been photographed but my question concerns the loading bank on which it sits. It looks like it was faced with sleepers planted vertically in the ground (which have decayed rather wonderfully) but what held the sleepers in place? I found an old photo that showed a horizontal support about three-quarters of the way up the sleepers but was it timber or bullhead rail.

 

Any help is much appreciated as I fancy something a bit different than the usual stone or brick faced loading dock.

Thanks for posting. I'm guessing the horizontal wooden strip would originally have run along the front of the dock too and the surface would have been dirt.
