johnofwessex
Ground Frames are fairly common on single track sections of the S&D usually in their own buildings. Henstridge however had its ground frame in the station building. Does anyone know why instead if putting it in a separate building?
RailWest
A good question, to which - as yet - I do not know the answer :-( However..... 1. It may have been simply a matter of economy - why erect a separate hut if you could make use of an existing building? 2. is there a precise understanding of the exact history of the station infrastructure? (not AFAIK). For example, when was the building constructed, was it extended at any time, when was the GF first installed etc?
