Eastern Star
Hi, Apologies if that`s been covered elsewhere. Can anyone identify the shade of grey paint that modern era BR Tank wagons like the one illustrated are painted in please?. It looks darker than Rail grey and lighter than Railfreight grey, closer to flint grey I suspect.
Airport2010
I believe it was known as Dove Grey. Phoenix Paints don’t offer a precise match (as I asked them last week) so I’d be looking at Railfreight Grey with a touch of white to lighten it to get the shade that looks right to you.
Signaller69
"Motip" 04054 Car aerosol Primer Grey is very close to the grey Bachmann use on their Esso TTA tanks if that's any help (seen here used on a Class A Dapol tank conversion with a standard Bachmann tank next to it). 2
Eastern Star
Thankyou Airport2010 and Signaller69, much appreciated. The Motip primer looks a really good match and especially with some weathering I don`t think it would be easy to tell the difference. Looks sweet on your Dapol tank conversion Martyn. I`ll search for some. Cheers.

It may be that Halfords primer grey is the same shade but I'm not sure.
