158722
Have found that with a bit of tweaking that 28mm ESU round speakers will fit nicely into our extensive Heljan Duff fleet. If original ESU speakers are used, 2mm needs cut off the top (open) end of back box with a razor saw. Sand it back to level trim out interior lugs and refit speaker. This method requires a plastikard 'bridge' is Araldited across the chassis rails at no1 (fan) end under the obligatory Shawplan roof fans. Option 2 is to use ESU's ex Hornby 28mm round speaker which comes in a slimmer housing. This housing can be fixed to chassis rails with a little Araldite directly. Same place for fitting , under no1 end. In either case the Howes 47 sound chip sounds fantatsic, both gaining a depth of bass without losing the strangled 47 horn, top end squeaks and rattles that Bass reflex speakers tend to smother. Want to hear the results? Come and see us at DEMU Bretby 12th-13th June. or at Perth Show Dewars Ice Rinks 26t-27th June. The 1985 fleet will be paraded at DEMU The brand new (first time out) 1993 fleet goes to Perth.
