nicktamarensis
Hello, The attached photo came with post-closure views of Ashton Park Parade Station - but I don't think it is that particular goods depot as the shape doesn't look right. Could it be somewhere in the Stalybridge or Guide Bridge areas perhaps? Any help in identifying this location gratefully sought. Many thanks in advance. Nick. nicktamarensis
Thanks very much Mozzer. Found your Mossley suggestion on the 'Disused Station' site, but from the past and present photo's of that building there are some differences which might rule it out. All too ready to be corrected though - a lot can happen over the years................ Nick.
nicktamarensis
Got it! (I think) thanks to Google Earth and Old Maps. I believe the building is the surviving goods warehouse located to the south of the site of the former L&NWR Dukinfield & Ashton station on their branch to Stalybridge. The building is accessed from the intersection of Wharf Street and Railway Street and is now owned by Chartrange Ltd, a civil engineering and reclamation company. According to the owners the building, although still complete, is now in need of repair. Nick.
