Bo-Bo
Afternoon fellow members from Mark. This will be my first model railway diorama build. The theme is to capture a small 16 ton slope side mineral fisheries wagon standing alone in a siding, waiting to be picked up. The plinth I am using for this diorama is made from Oak and will measure 101.6mm x 101.6mm. The diorama will have a fence, scenery and trackside items and rubbish. I hope this sounds ok. Bo-Bo
Thanks you for the response, it’s great to pinch a few ideas from many of the fine layouts on the forum.
Bo-Bo
Tomorrow I should expect delivery of the plinth, track, rough stone plastic wall kit, kiln dried sand and most importantly the wagon.

Bo-Bo
A couple of items for the diorama have arrived today, but no plinth. Hopefully tomorrow. I have cut the track to the size I need and removed some sleepers. While I wait for the plinth arriving work started on weathering the rails and sleeper chairs. A couple of pictures of some items and the work on the track. Edited October 15, 2019 by Bo-Bo

Bo-Bo
Hi instead of using a traditional buffer stop, I will use railway sleepers which are stacked and chained to the track. I have seen this done but cannot remember where.

Bo-Bo
A little more progress with my diorama, the plinth arrived yesterday while I was at work. Last night the track was glued in place. This morning I have laid some stone paving and a partially broken stone wall. The front of the diorama has some remanence of a stone paved area which will be overgrown with grass and flowers. I thought I would upload a picture of my progress.

I just thought of what I could achieve on such a small base, hopefully I am looking of adding as much detail without over doing it.
Bo-Bo
Thank you everyone for the response to my diorama build. Progress is continuing slowly, the paved areas and the section of wall have been painted and weathered. The fence is in place with some painting and weathering applied. Next on my list of duties will be to add a sandy type of ballast. I have added a picture of my work so far. Bo-Bo
My diorama is progressing nicely, the sandy ballast has now been glued in place. A railway sleeper along the edge of track is in place and the sleeper buffer stop is glued ready to add some chains. The area to be grassed at the back of the diorama has had some paper mache laid, this will be painted a brown earthy colour and then static grass and flowers will be added. Here is a picture of my work.
Bo-Bo
Hi my diorama is starting to take shape nicely. The grass work has been completed and a few wild flowers have already sprouted through. The buffer on the rail needs the chains adding and I need to add one or two line side rubbish items. I hope you like my progress.
Bo-Bo
A few more pictures of the fisheries wagon on the diorama, I’m thinking of weathering up my wagon as there would have been rust evident in the real world. 5
PierIuk
You did a wonderful work. Your stop block looks good (better than mine in fact).
Bo-Bo
Hi Pierluk thank you for your kind words, I am really pleased how the buffer has worked out. I still need to add some chains to emulate the buffers are tied to the tracks.
PierIuk
What kind of track is it ? Peco code 75 or 100 ? Thanks.

The track I have used is Peco 100 code with every other sleepers taken out. Hope this helps Pierluk.
