Pierluk
Hello everyone, In another thread, I planned to build a small layout with a traverser/transfer table: Shortover Yard...but I changed my mind ! I read this very interesting website: InglenookShuntingPuzzles and I started the build of a Small Inglenook sidings (9" x 24"). I used very old Fleischmann stuff. All your advices and comments are welcome. Thanks.
Marly51
Are you planning to have some buildings and scenery, Pierluk?
Gordon A
Three different wagons would make operation more challenging. Gordon A
Bo-Bo
Nice little inglenook, are you leaving it like it is or are you adding scenery and buildings.

I don't know yet for the scenery and the buildings. It's so small !
Hando
in terms of the historical context for the layout, I suggest that you make the layout a railway museum, which despite having a working loco, only does some demonstration shunting due to the simplistic layout of the sidings. 1
Pierluk
I cleaned up the track and the very old point. Then I plugged my layout for the very first run.

Andrew Cockburn
Like the idea, look forward to seeing the layout develop further.
Pierluk
After several test, it appears that all the sidings are too short for interesting shunting operations. One wagon per track it's not really enough. I must find a better track plan.
Pierluk
I removed all the buffer stops and I slightly changed the track plan. It works very well . I'm very pleased with the result. But I need very small buffer stops to avoid a massive lost of rolling stock.
Pierluk
I built small buffer stops with plastic sleepers and nails. They work fine.

.Lachute
Very interesting bufferstop. I'm gonna use them for my Little switching layout. Edited November 6, 2019 by .Lachute
Pier!uk
My first layout was too small. I rebuilt it bigger than the first (74cm x 25cm). Now it's a really serious Inglenook layout and I used real bufferstops. Edited November 9, 2019 by Pier!uk
