Chrisjh
Merry Christmas to all, I have a Dapol 67 great runner but jolly noisey just wondering if anyone has any ideas how to reduce the noise? Many thanks Chris
Les1952
Run it in and lubricate it, plenty of time for the former and very little oil for the latter. They all get quieter as the gears get bedded in and lubricated. Les
RMweb Gold Kaput Posted December 25, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 25, 2019 From experience with the older tooling Dapol locos (i.e. not the 50 or 68) they require lots of running in (i.e. more than the usual 30min each direction) before they start sounding anywhere near quiet. MGR Hooper!
About 45 mins running in, in each direction is what I had to do. And yes the important moving parts need a little oil.

Paul80
Anything other than their 50 & 68 may well be noisy even after many hours of running in the older Dapol Diesels just have that reputation, some are just plain noisy, others do need some work to get everything aligned just right to minimise the noise. Of all the ones I have owned only a Class 27 was anything like as Quiet as it should have been. Paul
Chrisjh
Thanks Paul, I think you must be right I have run my Dapol 67 in both directions for over 90 mins each way after applying some oil and it doesn't seem to be any quieter.
