geoffers
Am slowly converting loco decoders to ZIMO. Whilst changing the OMNI DCC27 I noticed it seemed very similar to the ZIMO in appearance and I am sure the OMNI DCC27 came up with the same manufacturers ID's as the ZIMO. So I am curious as to whether they may be the same decoder - just rebadged.
geoffers
OK - .using online identifiers (ie. JMRI) Zimo and Gaugemaster have different manufacturer IDs namely 145 and 065. This, though, does not preclude either being made by a third party and rebadged though I guess ZIMO do make their own. I am simply curious as there does not seem a great deal of operational difference between the two on my simple layout, whereas changing to a ZIMO MX600R on the 8-pin sockets definitely results in better running compared to some other brands of 8-pin decoders especially when capacitors are not removed. NIK
Hi, You may find if you look at the manuals for the Gaugemaster decoder and the Zimo decoder that the Zimo has more features and that some CVs are configured differently. One or more Bachmann decoder models are currently made by Zimo. Regards Nick
geoffers
Yes I think the Next18 decoder in Bachmann locos may be Zimo.

The packaging for the Bachmann 36-567 (Next 18) decoder clearly says made by Zimo for Bachmann, has a big Zimo logo on it, etc... There is no "may" about it.
