Liddy
Despite searching t'internet and Rmweb I can't find a source of BR 2-part (rounded) Oil axleboxes in O gauge 7 mm. Please does anyone know of a supplier? Thanks in advance
brossard
If Slaters do a kit that uses these axleboxes, they may be willing to provide them, or the sprue they come on, as separate parts. John
Liddy
Hi Brossard, Thanks, yes Slaters have the W-irons/axleboxes/springs as a unit, I could cut-away/file off the moulded W-irons. I'd rather not if I can avoid it. Edited March 7, 2020 by Liddy (sp)
brossard
After I posted, I saw your blog. Is there something wrong with the Slaters kit? John
Liddy
Hi John, Nothing wrong with the Slaters kit, I just don't feel confident about getting four great axlebox/spring units if I have to cut/file/sand the mouldings supplied. But it looks like I may have to make the best job I can of it. Rgds
brossard
OK, now I see. Yes you will need to separate the axleboxes and springs from the plastic W irons and CA/glue them onto the brass. A fiddly job to be sure, but doable. John
Liddy
The Slater's sprue, Starting with a razor saw to cutaway the W-iron and then 60 grade followed by 180 grade abrasive I cut out the first of 4 axlebox/spring units to fit the sprung W-irons.
