Staffordshire
Hello, I wonder if anybody could confirm the format of the Worksplates for the LMS/BR Garratt locos ? Am I correct in thinking that the worksplate did not actually indicate the works number of a particular loco ? All help gratefully received. Thanks, Ian
EddieB
Normally speaking, Breyer Peacock worksplates showed the work number. However, “British Locomotive Builders’ Plates” shows a plate dated to 1930 (when the later LMS batches were built) with the Garratt patent but no works number. I don’t think its source locomotive is identified, but appears similar to what can be discerned from distant shots of the LMS locos. The illustration comes between plates for w/n 6623/1929 (Rhodesian 14th Class Garratt) and 66881931 (GWR 57xx).
Chrisp
Late to this party! I was looking up the value of BG LMS works plates and saw this enquiry. Attached to this one a photo of one of the two ex-works plates I own. Thought you might still be interested.
