steve1
I picked this up at Mansfield show the other week. It doesn't have a maker's name on it and I wonder if the experts here might know. It's a and has sprung trucks with plastic wheels (Which will be replaced)!) and a pretty basic under frame. Any ideas? Thanks steve
34theletterbetweenB&D
The maker's name that popped up in my head was Con-Cor.
Rods_of_Revolution
After doing a quick bit of research, it's a Varney Scale Models model. See the discussion, and an image of the car you have, here: http://www.tycoforums.com/tyco/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12923 Cheers, Jack

dckuk
Varney; that goes back many years. An iffy representation of a B&O wagon-top box car... Edited March 16, 2020 by dckuk

Nice for a cheapie I guess, but I picked up a "preowned" Fox Valley wagontop boxcar last year which is very nice and more authentic.
dave1905
Its an iffy representation of a PRR X31-X31A round roof boxcar. The round roof allowed a higher interior for loading auto parts, airplane parts and vehicles. The B&O round roof was a similar idea but a completely different construction. The PRR car was a "regular" boxcar with different roof panels. The B&O car had stamped panels for one half the car which were attached at the top to make the car body. The roof and the sides were one huge stamping.
