New (from old) Royal Train

On the Ugly Locomotives thread, someone posted a photo of the Japanese Imperial Train. Far from ugly in my view, it is a fine looking EMU which, interestingly, is in the same regal purple colour of our own Royal Train. The clever thing is that the Japanese run this as a luxury charter train when not needed for the Emperor, adding an extra carriage when in imperial mode.

 

This is something that we could replicate here using refurbished HST elements. A 2+6 HST all-first which the two Mk3 royal sleepers could be cut into as required.

 

I think that there would be great demand in the UK to do charter trips in the Royal Train.
