Changing Lima O gauge couplings.

Can anyone advise how to change Lima couplings to mag couplings. Im not happy the coaches are so far apart and have bought some mag couplings and received some others for analysis.

 

Ive bored a hole in the buffer beam and filed it into a slot so as to accommodate the bar of the hook, then secure with wire through the appropriate hole to stop it pulling out and fix with adhesive. It's not finescale I know but so far Lima loco and coaches/trucks are sufficient for this garden railway.

 

Any advice on method, adhesives, etc would be appreciated.
