Jouef electrical pickups

I have acquired a few old Jouef (SNCF) diesel loco's that are a pig to run. Does anybody have any advice on improving the electrical pickup arrangements, I have stripped the pickup bogie and cleaned the current  assembly but it's still poor, motor runs fine if power added to the internal connections

As I recall, the problem is that there is only current pickup on the non-motored bogie. Not easy to put pickups on the motored bogie.

If your diesels are 67400, best option would be to find a cheap Roco 15000/7200/22200 and use the chassis from that.
