RMweb Premium Alex TM Posted October 27, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 27, 2020 Hi everyone, I am currently working through a few ideas for my next attempt at a layout. One of these involves a small goods yard and loco shed based on a former LBSC line. Littlehampton shed is just the right size, and I have scale drawings of it. I am, however, struggling to find many photographs. Most of what I find are either views of a loco parked at the entrance, or a close-up of one parked alongside; either way I can't find images of the rear of the shed. Can anyone point me toward a source of images. Thanks and regards, Alex.
Nick Holliday
The loco shed is still there. T ry Google Streetview like this: 1
RMweb Premium Alex TM Posted October 27, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 27, 2020 Hi Nick, It hadn't occurred to me to use Streetview. That image already answers a couple of questions. Now I think it's just an image of the tank that I'll need to find. Again, thanks. Regards, Alex.
decauville1126
Might be of help: https://thesussexmotivepowerdepots.yolasite.com/littlehampton.php Seems the tank was quite curvacious!
RMweb Premium Alex TM Posted October 27, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 27, 2020 Hi again, Thanks for that link. There are a couple of helpful, partial, views of the tank; I know have a much better idea of how it appears compared to the drawings. The photo of B294 may be the same image I have seen elsewhere, though in those places it's been cropped so the loco fills the space. Again, thanks. Alex. Nick Holliday
This view, from around 1920, on the Britain From Above website, shows a different view of the loco shed. I took a number of photos of Littlehampton's buildings in 1995, but the tank had long gone, I'm afraid. 2
RMweb Premium Alex TM Posted October 28, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 28, 2020 Hi again, I think you may have just supplied the missing piece. Again, it's a source I had not thought of. Again, many thanks. Regards, Alex.
