Today we have been out to the EVR. A local line which  we had not visited before.

They were running a Fish and Chip special. We took our neighbours and best friends with us and had a compartment to ourselves. The price was very reasonable at just over £20 each for the four of us for a return ticket including fish & chips, bottle of water and a flapjack. Motive power was a treat for me being a GWR 94xx Pannier tank.

We had a guided tour of the engine shed yard too which had a variety of motive power on display.

Great set of photos - no wonder you were smiling !

Not been for several years even though it's one of our local lines - looks like I need to make the effort to get out more . . . . . . .

Hi Mike,  for some unknown reason I thought the line was much shorter than it was. It was only when Lez saw the tickets advertised that I read up on it and was pleasantly surprised.

Next weekend the BR Standard tank will be in steam.

We also got to see inside the coach with the model railway displays (OO and N gauge) though it was officially shut.

We did not have time to do the museum and shop. There was also the LMS 10000 diesel association on site. So good excuses to go back.

Cheers, Ade.

That may have been the first day in service for the LMS coach. It wasn't in the train on Bank Holiday Monday, 31 May, seen here from a footpath between Gorsey Bank and Wirksworth

but was in yesterday (5 June) when I saw it at Shottle

I presume it's the work of the LMS Carriage Assocition
