RMweb Premium Davexoc Posted February 21 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 21 Motive power for my old Farish PGAs arrived today, so here is the new Revolution class 59 in original Yeoman livery. Stunning little loco and a sweet runner. Suppose I'll have to do a bit of work on those wagons now to improve them, that'll be about 60 new wheelsets required to eradicate the old pizza cutters...
RMweb Premium Davexoc Posted February 25 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 25 While 59001 has been running in, I got the airbrush out and experimented with a few HAAs to try and create the distinctive tyre marks on the hopper sides. Using Precision Paints 'Dirty Black', I sprayed the stripes first, then generally dirtied the whole wagon up to blend them in. Half a dozen done to differing degrees as a trial run. Might need to tighten up the stripe spray mask a bit, as it seems to wander off a bit at the left, but when the overspray hardens it, that might help.... 58012 at the head of 36 mgr HAAs, passing 59001 hauling 34 Foster Yeoman PGAs 17
Andy_C
Nice rakes! What combo of colours did you use for track weathering post-ballasting?

Mainly Humbrol 173 track dirt, and some very thinned black, a bit thicker around pointwork, and generously brushed on black for heavy oil spill areas in the platforms and where locos stand. I'm going to try some black oil paint for some really oily areas to create that clogged up ballast look....
Andy_C
@Davexoc - thanks for your response. As I progress on my layout, I do ask questions of various other threads regarding techniques etc, and It's v nice to get a response. Not all do so, which is a shame, really. Once I've ballasted my layout, I'll set up a couple of sample sections to test paint on - saves ruining the actual layout! :-) Thanks again, Andy. RMweb Premium Davexoc Posted April 7 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 7 Not a great deal of progress recently to be honest, it has been either too cold to spend time in the railway room, or too nice resulting in other things taking precedence. A few wagon kits have been worked on though, and as I had a brief opportunity to play trains today, I thought I'd have a dabble on the phone to create a short video. So here it is....
RMweb Premium Davexoc Posted May 7 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 7 A bit of running, some to amuse the grandchildren, some for my benefit, and a bit of tidying up the railway room. No real progress on the layout or stock. I thought I would have another dabble with video, first with the DSLR, then with the phone. The DSLR lacked depth of field, so I ended up with the following, cut to remove the wait between trains, and stopped early because something on the MGR triggered the focus to change. Oh, and up only because of an engineering possession (the phone was blocking the down line....)
