Jack P
Hi guys, I am a relative novice when it comes to the intricacies of trackwork. Could anyone advise the correct chairs for Ex-SECR and Ex-LBSC track, as well as the chairs the Southerns own Pway dept would've used? Many thanks
Trog
After the grouping or perhaps from just before probably the standard S1/AS1, S2, L1 and M1 chairs, plus their S&C equivalents. Before that probably their own in house designs, of which I know nothing.
Stephen Freeman
The Southern Way No 16 possibly has all the info you are looking for. In 4mm scale and you are a member of Scalefour or EM Gauge Society, you could use Exactoscale LSWR chairs (as far as I can see they are very much like LBSC as well) they are three bolt but the bolts are opposite to a standard S1. For the SER, they appear to have used a type of 2 bolt, not quite like anyhing available but the old C&L 2 bolt chairs are about as close as you are going to get. Of course the rail would probably be slightly different pre-Group so a bit of a compromise whatever you do pre-Group.
