RMweb Gold sjp23480 Posted November 10, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 10, 2021 Not strictly speaking a modelling topic, but I recently came across this fascinating site about planning international train travel as an alternative to flying: http://www.seat61.com Its a bit of a time sink, but thought it might interesting to someone. RMweb Premium Jeremy Cumberland Posted November 10, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 10, 2021 (edited) I have used that site many times to get myself all over Europe and occasionally beyond, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Some of the information Mark provides simply isn't available anywhere else, particularly when travelling away from the main centres. Knowing train times is one thing, but knowing how to go about buying a train ticket in Belgrade when you are likely to have only half an hour to spare between trains, or booking a sleeper from Sofia to Istanbul from the UK is very specialist knowledge indeed, and is utterly invaluable. RMweb Gold Nick C Posted November 15, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 15, 2021 (edited) Yeah, it's definitely very useful - I've used it a few times getting to and from Poland. My personal favourite being his tip for getting from Brussels to Prague for €29 (which I then combined with a sleeper from Prague to Krakow, also very cheap) He deos seem to be sponsored by DB though, so will sometimes suggest using their website to check or buy tickets where a local operator would actually be better (e.g. Krakow to Zakopane on the Poland page - he doesn't mention the main PKP site at all) Edited November 15, 2021 by Nick C
