Mk2d/e/f aircon - width of grey band

I'm about to spray an old Airfix Mk2 back into BR blue & grey, after I bodged a repaint into IC livery when I was about 15. I'll be doing the white lining using a ruling pen, which will be a learning curve for me. I've got one so I might as well use it.

How wide should the grey band be, and how far down from the gutter should it be positioned?
