Trouble with Model 200 air brush

I have never used an air brush.  I have one that was new 20 years ago and has never been used.  It is attached to a MC 1000AS compressor.  The compressor works so I tried using it with water to start with.  The air or water comes out of the rear of the air brush! Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

Sounds like the nozzle is blocked or the needle screwed down too tightly.

As it's been stored a long time, parts could have stuck together.
