Reinder
Hello again I am building a layout based on Miller's Dale and the midland mainline. Now i was wondering what would be the right ballast around the 60/70s. I now have some from dcc supplies https://www.dccconcepts.com/product/2mmn-scale-ballast-brown-blend/ LB-2BB But from geo scenics you have a ballast type that is made from limestone. Now you do have allot of limestone around the midlands so i was kinda wondering if that was more accurate? Or is my current ballast fine and bow it's time to start working on it? The limestone around the Peak District is Carboniferous Limestone, which has a distinct blue tinge to the main grey.

That looks pretty close. Don't forget that there'd be a lot of white dust around from the quarrying and processing. The limestone is similar to that found around Dinant in Belgium.
