Branksome, on the border between Bournemouth and Poole was once home to potteries thanks to local clay deposits in the valley known locally as the Alder Hills.

In the late ‘70s the redevelopment of the former pottery sites was underway and all sorts of artefacts were discovered:- Odd lengths of ‘trench ng track’ and the occasional excavator were amongst the gems.

The following images are of the Sharp, Jones pottery that was connected by a spur behind Branksome station to the Southern Railway. The aerial view shows wagons on Cromer Road, can anyone share the view of the SDJR 2P together with a 25t pillbox marked for special use on the spur?

The other images show just how extensive were the lines in the small area, all completely obliterated by the old ‘Homebase’ development.
