Preparation for painting

Hi,

I usually use Fairy Power Spray for stripping paint but having read about brake fluid decided to give it a go.Question is how do I get rid of the brake fluid to prepare for painting??.Is warm water & CIF all thats necessary or do I need to use a chemical, white spirit turps or meths? to neutralize the fluid. With the power spray I have only needed to scrub with CIF & wash off.

Many Thanks,

MickD.

It should come off with water and detergent of any kind, but best use one that is not full of lanolin to protect skin etc, pure soap would be OK, washing up liquid, etc., Rinse well with warm water and dry off.

Hi Stephen,

Many thanks for the reply,I have washed with warm water & cif so should be OK.Didnt know if it left a coating that would lift the new paint.

Thank you for your time,
