RANGERS
The shed was built by Stewart & Lloyds, the predecessors of British Steel, in 1954 to maintain the fleet of locos in the minerals division of S&L. The locos were used on the lines to the ironstone quarries in the Corby area. S&L bought the class 14s from BR in 1968 just a few months before the business was nationalised with the formation of British Steel Corporation. The shed closed to traffic in 1980 with the closure of the works and was vacated by BSC in 1981. Ownership passed to haulage operators, Knights of Old for a few years before it was finally demolished around 1990 to make way for the gas fired power station that now occupies part of the site.
