Lighted Destination Boards

Has anyone with an Allegra attempted to light the cab destination boards, or the side boards in the wagens?

 

I was a little disappointed that these were not lighted given the fact they are so close to the upper headlamp on the end cabs. I thought a light pipe would have been ran from that headlight to the area behind the destination boards. I have not removed the shell on any part of this set yet so I do not know what sort of room is back there or if I would be able to access the top headlamp to run a light pipe.
