Johnson044
About 8mm to 1' I think, which I don't feel is likely to catch on as a scale. Completely dwarfs my Class F. I did wonder about some perspective modelling in the Jack Nelson LNWR scale with 8mm at the front, 7mm a bit further back and maybe a little 2mm or thereabouts right at the back. Hmm. Maybe! 6

Great job! These little loco's were battered and bruised so keep the patina, shows it's had a life.

RMweb Gold Corbs Posted June 30, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 30, 2022 Absolutely stunning, I had thought it was a complete write-off
NewFangledNonsense
Beautiful little 4ft gauge loco. There were a few of them, and all full of character... (Image from http://www.oswestry-borderland-heritage.co.uk/) 1
NewFangledNonsense
In fact, I could be wrong but I'm detecting some similarities to the 4ft 6in Lee Moor Tramway Pecketts... ? (which were a modification of Peckett Type M4). There were tramways local to Lee Moor which used 4ft gauge, so maybe it's not the photocopier's fault? Johnson044
Thanks for the kind words folks. A quick google of the Lee Moor Peckett and yes, there are definite similarities. The builder of the model and his location make me think far more of the Kent cement railways though, which had all sorts of strange gauges. I took the loco back to him and he's lined out the sand boxes, tool box and the buffer beams and cab front and she's grown a whistle on the cab roof. We did discuss the similarities with the Lee Moor loco and we agreed it was closer to 8mm to 1', and about 4' gauge. I don't think a photocopier ever saw any drawings, certainly not in 1971, when it was built - but 8mm is an easy scale if you're scaling up from a 4mm drawing by hand. The loco is very definitely freelance.
NewFangledNonsense
Hadn't been very aware of the Kent cement railways before -- they certainly did throw a lot of darts either side of the 4ft gauge target without actually hitting it (3'9 and 4'3 being used a few times alongside several others)...
