n gauge Dapol SR CCT BR maroon?

A few years back, as a result of rummaging through a second hand box in a model shop I impulse bought a Dapol n gauge SR CCT in BR maroon livery, numbered M527467. A comment in an archived thread (see below) suggests that both the number and livery are non-prototypical. I have not been able to find any evidence of these vehicles in BR maroon either via a (brief) search on the web and also consulting the recent Key Publications modellers guide to parcels and mail rolling stock. I would be grateful for any information regarding the authenticity or otherwise of the appearance of this model.

Here is a van in Crimson.

No idea if any were ever transferred out of the SR they did get around and could be seen at all ends of the country.

The odd thing is that I used to live close to the Bricklayers Arms in South London and in the late 70s it was a Parcels Depot.  I remember seeing ex SR vans of all sorts and BR Mk1 GUV, BG, BSK and CCT of different types.  As for livery, the Mk1 types were Blue/Grey or Blue with much dirt but the SR Vans were that dirty I wouldn't be able to guess at a colour.

Many thanks for the link. It's interesting as it has the plywood sides as per my Dapol model but an S rather than an M number prefix. I likewise remember the 'dirt' livery very well from my spotting days in the 70s. I was always fascinated by the sheer variety of van types one could see on longer parcels trains.

Otherwise, definitely. SR CCTs would have been SR green at nationalisation, and would have been repainted in due course into BR crimson [assuming they were repainted]. After 1956 when everything else went maroon, apart from some BR Mk1s which went green or chocolate & cream, BR SR passenger vans went green again, followed idc by blue. In both crimson and green the ends were normally black, and the lettering was yellow, not changing to white until the blue era, and was much more extensive. Running numbers were four digit Sxxxx, with a suffix S added a little later.
