adanapress
Regarding the EMB motor bogie under the long lived R157/158 diesel Railcar pair, can anything be done to re-gear these? and if so how does one get the two worms off the armature shaft without damage? Any related advice welcome.
Barclay
Hi I believe this is the same as the dock shunter bogie? I always liked this adaptation, which is a clever way of re-using the old motor and shaft as a layshaft. To answer your second question a gear puller should deal with the gear wheels. DCB
If you can get them there were single start worms done which were fitted to Triang TT locos. The chassis is not the same as the Dock shunter, many had the EMU chassis but DMU and EMU chassis had smaller wheels than the Transcon / Dock shunter. The K's 5 pole armature and the double ended MW Armature can be shortened to fit. 5 pole with single start worm should run beautifully on smooth DC, they don't like pulse power.
