splodgestudios
Hello! I’m a somewhat beginner of UK modelling, painting has come of special interest as I’m fixing up many kits to more affordably build my rolling stock collection. As I live in Canada I don’t have easy access to some paints, however Tamiya is readily available. So I wonder what a suitable equivalent would be to Bauxite and Unfitted grey. (See current model below) End of the day, under weathering it’ll be easier to hide a slightly off colour but I’d like to get it close if I can! Any ideas or comments appreciated! 1
Wheatley
Based on the nearest match to Humbrol, check out the IPMS Stockholm colour charts for more equivalents. Bauxite - XF 68 (Humbrol 113). Lots of scope for variation though, check out almost any colour photo of a train of bauxite vans and there'll be everything from orange to dark brown depending on the age of the paint. Grey - XF 12 (Humbrol 64). "Equivalent" is a relative term in this context. 1
westernviscount
I was pointed in the direction of 'nato brown' for bauxite. Not quite right but i am a weatherer!
