Bulliedman
Hi I'm trying to work out how coal traffic, empties to and loaded from, we're worked. The timetable suggests that all such workings were on southbound trains with 4 stopping at Midsomer Norton for about an hour. But did the drop and pick up at the same time or did some trains drop off empties and others pick up fulls. Also did a banking engine accompany the trains and help with the shunt? Thanks in advance Andy
KeithMacdonald
Hello Andy An interesting topic. There a few pictures here, http://www.archive-images.co.uk/gallery/Archive-Images-of-the-Somerset-Coalfield/ which suggest wagons were often there without any engines, either empty or being loaded. Radstock (next stop on the line) had two wagon works, which implies there were plenty of wagons.
