Last year's Twickenham MRC's Open Day was our most successful ever - and we hope to build on that success this year!

This year we have eight (yes, EIGHT!) working layouts plus our famous club S/H stand. So, it's really a more a local show than an Open Day 😀

Date : July 29th     Time 10.00 to 16.00

Venue : Kerswell Hall, Wills Cres, HOUNSLOW, TW3 2JF

On-site parking and refreshments available plus club S/H stall.

I will be posting more details as we get closer to the day, but here is a photo from last year's open day showing our award-winning O gauge layout, ADDISON ROAD, which will be attending this year's event.

One of our eight layouts will be EASTGATE - our DIESEL-ERA OO layout.

At the moment the layout has been mostly set post-2000 because that has been the most popular era for our existing members, but we're hoping to attract some BLUE era members so that we can display it in either time frame.

Anyway, here is a photo of the layout in its early stages of development. The committee is pro-actively seeking 'all and any' diesel-era members - could that be you? Come along on July 29th and meet the team.

Time is ticking - just under three weeks to go now until Twickenham & District MRC's Open Day!

You can find out more details by visiting www.tdmrc.org.uk.

There will be EIGHT working layouts in N, OO9, OO, ON30, O and G.

Here's a view of one of them - our award-winning 7mm layout, ADDISON ROAD.

With just 10 days to go, I thought I should flag up Twickenham & District MRC's Open Day again.

We are trying to attract visitors (and members) in two distinct categories ........................

In order to attract serious modellers as visitors/members we are building serious finescale layouts like ADDISON ROAD - and we will be announcing a BRAND NEW 7mm finescale layout (BROMPTON ROAD) at our Open Day - not a replacement for ADDISON ROAD but  a smaller project which the keen builders can be getting on with whilst the keen operators continue to exhibit ADDISON ROAD around the country.

The new smaller project will obviously be able to attend smaller more local shows which cannot afford the much larger current project - INTERESTED?  Do come down and see details of our new BROMPTON ROAD project and get in on the ground floor of this exciting new layout.

But we are also keen to attract 'newbies' to the hobby and we plan to start a basic 'HOW TO BUILD YOUR FIRST LAYOUT' project in the autumn. Our long-established 'DRIVE-A-TRAIN' layout is now life-expired and we always planned to build a replacement after the old layout's last outing at this year's Open Day. We hope to attract new members looking to develop their basic skills and to encourage that demographic to our Open Day we are offering a FREE Hornby starter set to one lucky visitor and we have promoted that in local newspapers and social media.

So, whether you are an award-winning model already or an absolute beginner, you will find something to interest and entertain you at our Open Day - I hope to see you there!

This year's Twickenham & District MRC Open Day was even more successful than last year's and as a follow on we are holding an OPEN EVENING CLUBNIGHT this Friday August 4th where our Multi-Gauge-Running-Track will be up and visitors and potential members are invited to bring models along and give them a run.

We can cater for 99.9% of models from 'Z' to 'G' including TT, EM and P4. The only gauge we don't cater for is Irish 4mm scale on 21mm gauge track - and 'YES!' we did have a visitor to our Open Day who modelled that!

Our clubroom is KERSWELL HALL, WILLS CRES, HOUNSLOW, TW3 2JF and we will be open for visitors from 7.30pm
