Sol
I have acquired a few 0 scale kits that use the self-adhesive type Parkside Dundas transfers but it seems the self-adhesive has dried out. Question I have, is it possible to make them sticky again ?
SM42
Microsol Liquid Decal Film Paint on the reverse and use as waterslide. Takes a bit more care but will work. Don't paint the whole sheet. It will curl up. Just do a section at a time as required Andy Edited June 3, 2023 by SM42
Sol
Thank you. the big problem is here in Australia, it is scarcer than rocking horse manure ! Even Amazon Australia can't supply it & Postage cost from USA & UK costs about 3 times the price of the bottle.
RMweb Gold ikcdab Posted June 3, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 3, 2023 (edited) I've not had any success with the microsol. I would use dilute PVA. Failing that, prittstick applied with a damp paintbrush works too. Or any waterbased varnish. Ian Edited June 3, 2023 by ikcdab
Sol
OK so if using water based varnish, place the painted transfer on the wagon, wait until it is completely dry, then wet the paper to slide it off the transfer?

If using in a similar fashion to the micrsol product wait for it to dry and then use like waterslide. The only difference is rather than soak in water till loose on carrier I place on the model and soak the carrier paper off before adjusting for final postion. This is why it takes a bit more care. But then I have not used a varnish to revive transfers and we probably all have our own ways. Just need to experiment with some spares to find a method you prefer. The one you suggest seems viable and worth a try. Andy

Sol
Thank you - just read that topic. I will late June try the tacky varnish idea, let it dry, then see if water removes the backing paper OK without upsetting the transfer.
